Mrs. Tobin practices in the area of property tax litigation. Her practice primarily involves assisting commercial property owners reduce their property tax liability throughout the state of Texas. Because of her intense abilities in her chosen area of practice, she was selected the Outstanding Young Lawyer in Dallas by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (“DAYL”) for 2009-2010.
Mrs. Tobin is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers as well as many organizations that deal specifically with tax issues. She is a member of the North Texas Association of Assessing Officers, Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals, the SMU Real Estate Society, and Commercial Real Estate Women – Dallas.
She served on the DAYL Foundation Board of Directors and created a Foundation Scholarship for local law students that continues to grow. Mrs. Tobin also served as President of the North Texas Association of Assessing Officers and was a member of its Board of Directors.
She volunteers with many non-profit organizations throughout Dallas. Mrs. Tobin is a member of the Junior League of Dallas, having served on its Board of Directors as Finance Vice President and in several other capacities.
Mrs. Tobin is President-elect of The Family Place Partners, and has been a prolific fundraiser for The Family Place. She has served as President of the Élan Circle of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra League and on its Board. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Lee Park Conservancy and is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She has used her experience in fundraising to Chair or Co-Chair the following events: The Dallas Museum of Art Junior Associates Circle An Affair of the Art, Community Partners of Dallas Chick-Lit Luncheon, Spirit of Contact Luncheon Underwriting, and the Heroes for Children Luncheon Solicitations and Silent Auction. In total, these events have raised over $1.5 million for their respective non-profit organizations.
Mrs. Tobin received her bachelor’s degree in finance, organizational behavior and business policy with a minor in religious studies from Southern Methodist University in 1998. She attended University College, Oxford, England, in the summers of 1997 and 1999 and earned her law degree in 2001 from SMU Dedman School of Law.
She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2001 and the State Bar of Kansas in 2002. Besides being admitted to all Texas and Kansas state courts, she is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern District of Texas and all United States Districts Courts of Kansas.
