Texas Property Tax Forms

Most of the forms used in Texas property tax matters may be found on the website of the Texas Comptroller. The Comptroller is the state official responsible for approving general forms for property tax purposes.

Some appraisal districts have devised there own forms for certain filings or have modified the form prescribed by the Comptroller. These appraisal district's forms are often found on their websites, including the following:

Bexar County Appraisal District

Collin Central Appraisal District

Dallas Central Appraisal District

Harris County Appraisal District

Tarrant Appraisal District

While the Comptroller forms should be sufficient for virtually any filing, GPD suggests that you check the website of any appraisal district that has such a site to determine if it has issued a form of its own. However, in cases where the Comptroller has mandated the use of a specific form or requires that any form used be approved by the Comptroller (such as rendition forms), it is important to determine if an appraisal district's form has been approved by the Comptroller before using such form. All forms found on the Comptroller's website have, of course, been approved.

The Texas Commission of Environmental Quality provides the exemption application for pollution control equipment. This document entitled "Property Tax Exemption for Pollution Control Property" includes an Application for Use Determination for Pollution Control Equipment. Because of the difficulty in locating this particular exemption application, GPD is making it available on its tax website.
